पत्नी ने कहा - आज धोने के लिए ज्यादा कपड़े मत निकालना…

पति- क्यों??

उसने कहा..- अपनी काम वाली बाई दो दिन नहीं आएगी…

पति- क्यों??

पत्नी- गणपति के लिए अपने नाती से मिलने बेटी के यहाँ जा रही है, बोली थी…

पति- ठीक है, अधिक कपड़े नहीं निकालता…

पत्नी- और हाँ!!! गणपति के लिए पाँच सौ रूपए दे दूँ उसे? त्यौहार का बोनस..

पति- क्यों? अभी दिवाली आ ही रही है, तब दे देंगे…

पत्नी- अरे नहीं बाबा!! गरीब है बेचारी, बेटी-नाती के यहाँ जा रही है, तो उसे भी अच्छा लगेगा… और इस महँगाई के दौर में उसकी पगार से त्यौहार कैसे मनाएगी बेचारी!!

पति- तुम भी ना… जरूरत से ज्यादा ही भावुक हो जाती हो…

पत्नी- अरे नहीं… चिंता मत करो… मैं आज का पिज्जा खाने का कार्यक्रम रद्द कर देती हूँ… खामख्वाहपाँच सौ रूपए उड़ जाएँगे, बासी पाव के उन आठ टुकड़ों के पीछे…

पति- वा, वा… क्या कहने!! हमारे मुँह से पिज्जा छीनकर बाई की थाली में??

तीन दिन बाद… पोंछा लगाती हुई कामवाली बाई से पति ने पूछा...

पति- क्या बाई?, कैसी रही छुट्टी?

बाई- बहुत बढ़िया हुई साहब… दीदी ने पाँच सौ रूपए दिए थे ना.. त्यौहार का बोनस..

पति- तो जा आई बेटी के यहाँ…मिल ली अपने नाती से…?

बाई- हाँ साब… मजा आया, दो दिन में 500 रूपए खर्च कर दिए…

पति- अच्छा!! मतलब क्या किया 500 रूपए का??

बाई- नाती के लिए 150 रूपए का शर्ट, 40 रूपए की गुड़िया, बेटी को 50 रूपए के पेढे लिए, 50 रूपए के पेढे मंदिर में प्रसाद चढ़ाया, 60 रूपए किराए के लग गए.. 25 रूपए की चूड़ियाँ बेटी के लिए और जमाई के लिए 50 रूपए का बेल्ट लिया अच्छा सा… बचे हुए 75 रूपए नाती को दे दिए कॉपी-पेन्सिल खरीदने के लिए… झाड़ू-पोंछा करते हुए पूरा हिसाब उसकी ज़बान पर रटा हुआ था…

पति- 500 रूपए में इतना कुछ???

वह आश्चर्य से मन ही मन विचार करने लगा...उसकी आँखों के सामने आठ टुकड़े किया हुआ बड़ा सा पिज्ज़ा घूमने लगा, एक-एक टुकड़ा उसके दिमाग में हथौड़ा मारने लगा… अपने एक पिज्जा के खर्च की तुलना वह कामवाली बाई के त्यौहारी खर्च से करने लगा… पहला टुकड़ा बच्चे की ड्रेस का, दूसरा टुकड़ा पेढे का, तीसरा टुकड़ा मंदिर का प्रसाद, चौथा किराए का, पाँचवाँ गुड़िया का, छठवां टुकड़ा चूडियों का, सातवाँ जमाई के बेल्ट का और आठवाँ टुकड़ा बच्चे की कॉपी-पेन्सिल का..आज तक उसने हमेशा पिज्जा की एक ही बाजू देखी थी, कभी पलटाकर नहीं देखा था कि पिज्जा पीछे से कैसा दिखता है… लेकिन आज कामवाली बाई ने उसे पिज्जा की दूसरी बाजू दिखा दी थी… पिज्जा के आठ टुकड़े उसे जीवन का अर्थ समझा गए थे… “जीवन के लिए खर्च” या “खर्च के लिए
जीवन” का नवीन अर्थ एक झटके में उसे समझ आ गया…

She got late at office that day and she had to go home alone.

She started walking towards the auto stand

But it was too late,

she had to

wait for an auto.

She felt like someone was

following her,

she turned back and 'Bhoo' he said.

She got scared and he laughed out loud.

Her office colleague it was.

"I'm here because

I can't let you walk alone

towards the auto stand and don't worry

I'll be

with you till you get an auto.

You are my

responsibility"

he said.

After ten minutes of wait,

An auto came but no

passenger was in there.

...

She knew that this

could probably be the last auto to pass by.

She

looked in an uncomfortable manner

At the

auto driver.

...

"Don't worry sister,

I'll drop you at your home

safely.

You are my responsibility"

the auto

driver said.

She sat in.

...

Her home was in a dark lane,

she had to walk

almost five minutes in the lane to reach her

home.

...

She entered the lane and a mid-aged

man was smoking and looking at her.

It was a neighbour.

He threw the cigarette

away and said

"Come i'll walk with you till you

reach home.

Don't worry beti you are like my

daughter only.

You are my responsibility"

...




The girl finally reached home safely.



Everytime I gave a pause in the write up, you



must have felt that something wrong will

happen.

This fear is what our society has given

us.

It will no longer have an existance if every

man be like that office colleague or the auto

driver or the neighbour.
Dear men, like your sister, mother and wife
are your responsibilities,
'She' is your responsibility too.
